After the release of the limited hardcover of 200 signed and numbered copies a few years ago, we felt it was time to have this title come out in more affordable editions.
In July we'll release the trade paperback edition as well as e-book editions. There are still some hardcovers available, so of course you should definitely consider picking up one of those!

Did you know that the illustration for my book, painted by Nikki Rossignol, was painted using actual magic rainwater from The Olympic Rainforest, in Quinault, where the story takes place? Nikki spent a few days there, trying to collect rainwater in containers. When an employee of the Rain Forest Resort Village heard about it, he pointed her to a rain barrel in the back of the store, and she was able to get some into bottles and take back home in Montana.
There, she proceeded to use the rainwater for her watercolor depiction of the surrounding rainforest, featuring two of the book's characters, including the evil mage Joel Hines lurking in the shadows. Wonderful magical things happen at my annual writers retreat at Lake Quinault, where over 100 writers come to write and interact over three weeks in three different sessions. It's only natural that the book, then, will forever be infused with a special kind of magic. (Cue that Queen song now stuck in your head.) It's a beautiful world we live in, folks. And then there were six.
Six of seven 2021 titles are up for preorder, with the latest being Shoggoths in Traffic and Other Stories by Tobias S. Buckell. The art comes courtesy of Dabeen Lee, a Korean artist known online as A. Shipwright. Shoggoths arrives this November! Okay, they're all right there on the front page, but two more 2021 titles are up for preorder, and we've got near-final front covers for you to oooh and aaah over.
Collections from Michael Bishop and Erica L. Satifka will be out in the fall. As I write this, two of 2021's book projects are available for preorder: Jack Cady's novel McDowell's Ghost, and Josh Rountree's story collection Fantastic Americana.
A few more cover reveals are forthcoming very soon, so keep an eye on the site. And of course, DO preorder! |
