KEN SCHOLES
This signed and numbered hardcover was limited to 250 copies and is sold out.
"I shed no tears when I put the torch to my wife." With those words, retired hero Andro Giantslayer invites you along for one last adventure as he and his equally legendary spouse, Luendyl the Fierce...and Fair, trace their way back to where they first met. Action? Absolutely! Magic? Tons! Dragons? At least two. Oversexed centaurs? Just one, I’m afraid. Treasure? More than your pockets — or your heart — could ever hold. Packed with laughter and tears, this postmodern romp into heroic fantasy will seduce you with its simplicity and charm.

"Ken Scholes is one of the better writers you’ve never heard of. Or perhaps you have, if you read small press mags such as Talebones, in which case you may still not know he has a book (admittedly thin) out. It’s Last Flight of the Goddess, and it begins with “I shed no tears when I put the torch to my wife.” That’s a nice hook, and it’s a great entree to the tale of an old man who was once a fantasy hero in the familiar Conanesque mold...The tale alternates reminiscence with Andro’s adventures as he seeks to return his wife’s ashes to the sky from which she fell so many years before (Oingeltonken’s Flights of Fancy Winged Shoes were never terribly reliable). It is warm and loving, and a very enticing invitation to look at any future item with the Scholes name on it."
—Tom Easton, Analog
"Ken may be our next Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett. “Last Flight of the Goddess” was hysterically funny, enjoyable, and touching all at once. Not many writers can pull that off... In addition to being a great read, it’s a pretty book. My bet is that after Ken’s career takes off, it will be a collector’s item."
—Brenda Cooper
"Brilliant language, unexpected plot twists, and emotional tugs that surprise the reader at every turn."
—Irene Radford
"No human, be he hero or king or bard or mage, no gibber or gobber or demon or dragon, can resist this ballad, the enchanting saga of Andro Giantslayer and his deathless love for Luendyl the Fierce and Fair and their child Karysa the White of the West. Toss aside your paperback of Orvid and Drimbull’s Venison Stew for the Heart and place next to your bosom Last Flight of the Goddess. Lift your mugs of mead; a toast to the poetry and beauty of prose well writ, and to the birthing of a new age of unparalleled artful story-telling, and to parenting, and magic diapers. This tome soars with lean, mean liquid grace. Here you’ll find famous deeds, recent loss, bawdy humor, and passing reference to the grand sweeping national anthem "O Grunland Fair." From the ruins of Ghul-Shar-Tov to hallowed Handen Hail, all hail mighty Ken Scholes, bard extraordinaire and story-telling master! May his keyboard forever click out such noble fare, and may his computer never crash!"
—Ken Rand
"Last Flight of the Goddess takes a tragic/comic postmodern trip to the land of sword and sorcery. Scholes can be read on so many levels, but first and foremost he tells a good story, so take off your shoes, put some good Norse opera on your stereo, and settle in for a fierce and fair journey."
—James Van Pelt
"A funny, touching adventure of love, loss, and legends."
—Syne Mitchell
"A pleasant fantasy with fun, gently wry humor."
—Nina Kiriki Hoffman
"You can immediately see that this Ken Scholes guy knows how to twist a tale."
